If there is a murderer, staying in the location that someone's taken pains to pen us in at would be as convenient for them as for the kidnapper, if they're separate people at all. It's not that I don't appreciate your intent but either the murderer knows who all of us are and likely where we are, or our best chance to gather information is now before they have their bearings.

If the murderer both exists and is fully informed, that they can pull off a kidnapping of this scale suggests that overcoming groups much larger than five isn't a problem.
