11 PM - Kitchen Thread

[All characters have relocated to the kitchen where they've set envelopes on the table; characters were encouraged (but not required on any game-based level) to put anything besides their welcome message/map into the envelope. Fake outs, of course, allowed. Separate thread by requests since it's been about two months. If your character put anything in their envelope, a reminder that you can post an anonymous comment with the contents of an envelope here, just be sure to PM sheep_dog to let them know you did in case there's any questions. Once your character's made a reply we'll assume you've had a chance to leave any message. Feel free to leave your anonymous messages in or outside the thread.

Characters can put their vote-off post on the bulletin board after the kitchen thread, but due to OOC issues Haneoka had to be the one voted off the first round. We've confirmed enough characters will vote her off anyway but feel free to list whoever else you want. You can do that anonymously too if you prefer.]

[With a glance to the clock, which shows it getting later and later, he starts towards the kitchen.] Then, let's burn them.

[Organizing the sheets, he would move to follow. There was no need to comment. He agreed, after all.]

Shinigami, as the entertainment is over for now, would you consider coming with me? If the three of them stay together, they can probably be trusted to destroy the paper.

Not a tea-drinker. But why not? Let's go.

[He starts to lead the way, through Ryuk could probably get there faster through the walls if he feels like it. If one listens intently they might be able to hear the first part of the conversation when crossing through the foyer.]

Then Ryuk-san, you haven't interacted with humans before now but you are familiar with the Kira case that Yagami-san and Mikami-san have been talking about.

[Brown eyes do dart in their direction, curiosity evident on his face, but he keeps following Mikami into the kitchen so that the Notes can be burnt.

Once they reach their destination, he sets the copies onto the counter top.]

Prepare a flame.

[Mikami's eyes are on Light's by the time they're in the kitchen, lingering on his as if to confirm what they were watching. He keeps staring rather than taking action.]

[With nothing else in the kitchen to draw his attention, he would notice the stare.]

What is it?

MmMm. [With only a dismissive noise to Light, he looks to Atsushi expectantly.]

[airlynx]

Watchu lookin at, punk?? [Having forgotten that he has a lighter by being pissed at Mikami, he takes out a rock he collected while outside and strikes it against the counter. The resulting spark lands in the intended spot, flickers, and expands into a merrily crackling fire inside the microwave oven.]

Yagami-san. [It's a tone whose unspoken message is clear: please get your over-sized idiotic pyromaniac under control. Frustrated but not panicked, Mikami moves to push Atsushi away from the microwave, slamming the door closed to suffocate whatever fire managed to start inside of the mcirowave and reaching to pull the plug on the off chance Atsushi somehow decides buttons also need to be pressed.

That a fire managed to start without any kindling is actually kind of impressive, but he's of no mind to be impressed at the moment.]

[Still unsure how he got the role of babysitter beyond having the ability to not make instant enemies, he nonetheless watches the microwave to make sure it doesn't somehow make more of a mess.]

The lighter? You were using it earlier. Do you still have it? If so, we can make a fire in the sink.

Tha' I do, but it wouldn't be impressive if I didn't done do it by myself, like a real man. Watch me slay! [Atsushi strikes the rock against the counter once. Twice. Three times. No fire.] I promise, it's never taken me longer than two hours or so to get a blaze started, fellas. O' course, if ya don't wanna wait, ya shouldn't'a put out mah fire from the microwave.

A real man would confidently use his intelligence. Since you're the only one who has a lighter, that makes you important. If you would use that lighter, you would make the jobs of everyone here easier. What's manlier than that?

Where's tha intelligence in usin' somethin' any idiot could use? I thought you thought highly o' me, so tha' makes me feel some typa way, if ya know what I'm sayin'. Resourcefulness, pluck, and big muscles are what makes a man, a man. [Atsushi winks and tries a few more experimental strikes against the counter. No luck.]

The intelligence came in preparation. Mikami-san and I could also get a rock, but you're the one who has the lighter.

[airlynx]

Aha, but can you guys USE the rock like I can? Didn't think so. [Atsushi turns back to his work with a smug smile.]

[andeatit]

[If there was ever a testament of Light's patience, it's his calm demeanor even now.

He steps toward Atsushi.] Then, can I use the lighter?

[airlynx]

[Atsushi gently puts the rock down, pausing his work, and slowly ambles towards Light, putting a firm, helping hand on his shoulder.]

I know yer a smart one, fam; but lemme have my glory too, 'kay? You've been leadin' the proceedin's up to now, an' I respect ya for it. For now, just sit back, chilaxe, and lemme do the hard work.

[Atsushi grins brightly and offers a thumbs-up. If you squint, you can even see shoujo bubbles floating around his head.]

You're right. [Light offers a warm smile.] In truth, there's a reason I wanted to hurry. I didn't want to admit it in front of an audience, but...

The legal drinking age is 20 in Japan. I'm only 18 so I haven't reached that age yet, but I did start university. Soon, I'll be going to drinking parties as part of making connections. Since we're probably not officially in Japan anymore, and you seem like someone with knowledge, I was hoping you could teach me some strategy. Starting tomorrow, things will get dangerous so tonight really will be best. I wanted to finish quickly and get started, but it was a silly idea.

[airlynx]

Fam, you have come to the right place. I knew there was some spunk in ya behind yer hoity-toity self!

[Atsushi completely abandons his efforts at making a fire and sits cross-legged in front of Light, motioning for him to sit down, too.]

Y'see, mostly any drinkin's bearable if ya make it fun. An' what better way of makin' it fun than doin' drinkin' games?! Mah favorite is...

Ah wait... [He reaches out to catch him before Atsuhi could sit down.] While we talk, let Mikami-san use the lighter to burn the paper.

[On that note, he will reach to try to take the lighter for himself, moving to burn the paper over the sink swiftly and efficiently.]
