11 PM - Kitchen Thread

[All characters have relocated to the kitchen where they've set envelopes on the table; characters were encouraged (but not required on any game-based level) to put anything besides their welcome message/map into the envelope. Fake outs, of course, allowed. Separate thread by requests since it's been about two months. If your character put anything in their envelope, a reminder that you can post an anonymous comment with the contents of an envelope here, just be sure to PM sheep_dog to let them know you did in case there's any questions. Once your character's made a reply we'll assume you've had a chance to leave any message. Feel free to leave your anonymous messages in or outside the thread.

Characters can put their vote-off post on the bulletin board after the kitchen thread, but due to OOC issues Haneoka had to be the one voted off the first round. We've confirmed enough characters will vote her off anyway but feel free to list whoever else you want. You can do that anonymously too if you prefer.]

Copies, scanned or no, are the only important factor. As long as the original is destroyed in the end, it makes no difference. To have everything covered, we need copies of all those in the envelope.

Probably, all or most of us have. Since we don't have a crime to convict as of now, I'd feel much better sending a mother back to her children with the vote.

Even were a crime committed, I wouldn't agree with sending the most likely culprit away to safety.

Ryuk-san is the least likely to be a criminal.

The fact that he's alive is proof that he's killed at some point.

There's no jurisdiction for Shinigami.

We also don't have any duty to him and his safety if he's "innocent" for lack of jurisdiction.

He's the only one we're not disarming. If he wants to join in the human community by surrendering his Note to be burned, that would be one thing, but...

That "one thing" would kill him.

It's not such a simple situation. Even ignoring the question of rather he could be tried while in the human world considering even visitors have to follow the laws of the land they're visiting, the difference between murderer and killer is only in semantics, only in their ability to be tried for a crime. I'm neither arguing we should try a Death God nor that Ryuk is the soon-to-be-killer, but his world's laws don't exclude him as a suspect.

There would need to be a reason for him not to kill us all at once with his Note.

I have less reason to kill any of you here than I would any random humans, you know. This entire situation has been a lot of fun, and I have plenty of time saved up. Whether that I've killed before makes me a murderer, though... I'll leave human definitions in human hands.
