Mikami's morning rounds and location logs

[Mikami's morning schedule is as follows unless interrupted;

From a little after midnight until 7AM, he'll be sleeping on the office couch, in full suit and tie, aside from his shoes at the front entrance. He's a light sleeper but not so light somebody intentionally trying not to wake him couldn't enter and do something.

At 7AM he will wake up and look out into the main area, then return to check the computer if nothing's thrown him off schedule.

Unless he makes alternate plans due to talking to anyone via computer, at 7:30 he'll briefly check the laundry room. He'll then head to the Master Bathroom and proceed with basic morning hygiene and showering.

By 8:00 he'll head to the kitchen and either interact with whoever else is there or just make coffee alone.

At 7:30, he takes Ed to the laundry room and moves the laundry to the dryer before heading to the beach with him.

...This is a rather dry read, but that's Mikami for you. For being transported into a murderous land of magic and mystery where waking up alive is perhaps a small miracle, his morning habits are quite normal. Arguably unsettlingly so. He seems entirely comfortable and at home in the setting to anyone observing.]

The camera service and anonymous communications. There is some activity on the message board this morning.

[Without worrying about personal space, Ed tries his best to see what Mikami is doing. Even more complicated, he tries to understand it.]

Someone's anonymously asking about the Foot trolley problems, it looks like. [He shifts away, making a grimace about the other crowding him in. The computer is on the anonymous post that popped up that morning.]

It looks like there's at least one other new arrival. A girl.

Yeah, two judging by the clothes.

This is the kinda guy we're supposed to be worried about? He doesn't sound scary at all.

[He'd meant on the post, but he decides it's not worth explaining how feminine the text talk seems.[

It may be another house member anonymously. Potentially the killer obfuscating something.

[Looking at Mikami and then to the camera, he backed up a little.]

Asking to find out which one of us would kill somebody to save the rest?

Who can say what their motivation would be? Nobody's looking to answer it, either. There's probably something hidden to it.

[Pushing himself off, Ed stands back up.]

We've looked at it, now let's make the boats. If the guy wants us to play that much, he'll give chase, and we'll kick his ass then.

[After looking for another moment, Mikami moves to the other computer.]

Let me check something else first.

[Reaching up, Ed hooks his hands behind his head before looking around.]

You're putting it off, huh? Afraid of water?

[eraser_rain]

No. I'm checking what else is in place on the computers in here. It's clear on the message board that two people are communicating something covertly. [Typing, moving his finger over the mousepad, he verbally pauses even as his hands don't, before adding:] Poorly.

[If Ed's not really watching the screen, the text popping up won't mean much.]

[Ed could easily see the Colonel making that move. Maybe computers aren't a good thing, after all. Not that the blonde says anything about him secretly that he doesn't say openly.]

Is it about killing people?

I can't tell.

[Without hesitation, he moves more closely.]

Let me see.

[Making a face as he gets in close, Mikami scoots partially away, pulling the keyboard and mouse with him to navigate to the anonymous post from this computer's interface. Since it's on the server computer, each post has an IP logged. He pulls up the anonymous reply.]

A one word answer to a complicated question, posted anonymously. There's no point in replying anonymously to something like this, if you look at it at face value. It doesn't establish your e-mail address for contact with others either.

We would need to find out which IP this is coming from.

[He starts navigating to Light's post from the week prior.]

I posted from within the office. Their post wasn't made from the computer in there according to the IP address. It doesn't match the location from which the others commented, either.

Yagami's now posting from a different computer than he'd original been posting from. The anonymous reply doesn't match with either IP that he's used. The new girl's post doesn't seem to be coming from any previously used computer either.




[Note: Asked Misa player where she posted from. Assuming Light posted from bedroom #2 in the first thread as that's what his action post said on that day. Assuming Great Room for his reply to the latest post. Lemme know if I need to correct that. Assumed Anon-L posted from inside the closet. Emi's not in the game anymore and I have no idea where she's posting from. Since she's not in the game anymore I'm not going to bug her player and will just assume she wasn't in the same room Misa's player declared her to be in when she posted.]

[Huffing, Ed plops down in front of the computer too.]

Just get to the answer. I don't know what an e-mail is, and IP sounds like a stupid joke.

[He stops briefly to gaze at Ed, hands lingering over the keyboard, on the mouse.]

[Amber eyes stay on the screen until no answer comes. Surprised, they slide to the side of his face.]

What is it?

How old did you say you were, again?

[He never said it was a funny joke...]

[Right back to business, then. One finger points to the numbers on the screen by each post.]

An Internet Protocol--IP--address identifies each individual computer. Because we're on an intranet, only the numbers after the final period are likely to vary. Due to the IP address being different, I can tell that, for example, Yagami-san, while posting from the same e-mail address, [He gestures to Light's account name.] is using a different computer today than he was then.

[After a moment of silence he sighs.]

Well, it isn't very useful right now. There's no reason to set an e-mail up for you either... [Pulling up another window, he begins typing, pulling up other screens.] I'll close these and then we'll see to making a boat.

[Looking a bit exasperated, if saying that he had said that from the start, Ed stands.]

Now that you know I'm the real thing, we should bring everybody. I'll have enough boats in minutes.

[Leaving the Server computer on the "Press Alt + Cntrl + Del to Unlock" screen, he moves to the camera feed computer.]

According to what the Shinigami said, it won't be that simple, but it is ridiculous not to try. If we rewind this, we should find out where they've gone.
