A game of clues

[So far, he had been very, very unsatisfied with his progress. Normally, things worked much more smoothly but being dropped into highly tense situations with people who seemed sure of their own paths hadn't made for a cohesive team. While he still felt they were safer in groups of three, it was time to do some real exploration.

The first thing was first: physically searching for clues. He'd stay in the house of course, as he still felt the surrounding land brought on too much threat of danger for the moment and he wanted more clues, or even a clue, toward the locked door in the laundry room. The bedrooms were his first step, as he wanted to look through the computers for potential clues and try to once more assess how many people had appeared. He would knock before going into each. If there was no answer, he would go inside and begin his searches, starting with the computers to see if any held any unique information. The rooms themselves would also be searched for anything that might hold numbers - he was fairly confident that while it was meant to be a difficult puzzle, it was meant to be solvable. Coming from Bedroom 2, he would move to Bedrooms 5, 4, and 3 before moving onto the Master Bedroom.

From there, he would move onto the middle and opposite sides of the house. The Dining Room, Great Room, Kitchen, Office, and finally the Laundry Rooms would be explored. There was no time for sloth.]

[ooc: basically, Light's looking through the entire house. If you want to avoid him, you can have hijinks ensue and have your character move between rooms while he's looking in other rooms; he also won't find any characters that are outside.]

[The closet inhabitant does not have the luxury of an escape route but he does hear someone coming through the bathroom door and the knob turning on the closet door. At the far back end of the walk-in closet, lit by the unflattering blue-white glow of a computer monitor, sits a potentially familiar blue and white clad, panda-eyed figure.

One hand rises up to his lips in a shh motion. The other hand pushes a button on the digital camera which is sitting on top of the computer tower, facing Light.]

[What is he doing? Light looks wide-eyed at the camera before going to L.]

Ryuga?! [Since they're in public, he'll use the name L gave when in public, ridiculous as it was.] What are you doing? When did you get here?

I'm hiding from murderers.

[Obviously.]

[andeatit]

With the camera. [Did he turn it on or off? He feels confident that L wasn't broadcasting, but he wouldn't have been terribly surprised if he was recording some kind of message or other.]

You're also hiding from potential protection. If something had happened to you here, we wouldn't have known until the smell kicked in.

[takethecake]

No. If something happens to me, they'll know it was you. [He says as if that's meant to reassure him somehow.]

[He actively sighs. He hopes they all see what he has to put up with.]

I didn't mean protection from me. I'm trying to get us home. But, in truth, I've been expecting you.

[takethecake]

Me?

There are extra outfits for each of us in the laundry room. Jeans and a white shirt isn't unique to you, but it was enough to make me think you would be here soon.

[He looks down at himself as if his own clothing is a surprise to him then back up at Light with a still puzzled expression.]

[...L, are you wearing the same thing you were when you came in?]

Extra clothing. I could tell they belong to you. Are you recording or streaming?

[Crouching down further into his knees, his stare goes from Light off to the side as he bites into his thumb and mumbles.] You really plan to be so casual about this? Really, how shameless...

[andeatit]

Casual? Of course not. We've both been kidnapped and put what into what seems to be a murder game. Of course I'd like to discuss it and have the chance to work with you, but I want to know what's happening.

[takethecake]

[Mumble mumble. One set of toes moves over the opposite foot as if scratching an itch.] Without discussing the elephant in the room...

dining room

[momingstar]

[Oh, look, it's the 1997 housewife. She's inspecting the cabinets carefully, running a hand along any seams and looking as if she's checking for hidden compartments.]

Nothing, huh... [She looks up and stands up straight.] Ah, hello! Are you investigating too? I suppose it wouldn't be that easy to find clues as to what happened to us after all, wouldn't it?

[andeatit]

[He hadn't seen her across the screen, so he's surprised to find a tiny woman in the dining room. At the very least, she was as far from threatening as anyone in the house was.]

Ah, it would initially seem so but being able to take all of us without leaving us with a memory of being taken is impressive in itself. [She's even investigating.] Have we had the chance to meet? It's strange to think we're living together without knowing one another.

[momingstar]

Indeed. [She touches a hand to her face and sighs.] Haneoka Eimi. I haven't seen anything yet, and it's driving me up the wall! Between all of us, there's got to be something.

[andeatit]

I'm Yagami Light. It's good to meet you, Haneoka-san.

It's good that you want to solve this mystery too, but it's dangerous for you to be walking around alone. So far, it seems you're stuck with a house for a males which makes you a very likely victim in some ways.

[momingstar]

Ah, yes! You were the one organizing things on the computers. It's good to see you.

I'm glad you're concerned about me. I suppose that's true -- even disregarding the usual sort of thing, they've set us on looking for people who stand out, haven't they? And I'm also older and either amnesiac yet looking exactly the same or brought here by some kind of time travel. But you don't need to worry! I can keep a look out better than you'd think, you know!

[andeatit]

You're older? I'm not as sure about that, you won't stand out for that reason.

Now that I've found you, I would like to check for other symptoms. I've been worried.

[momingstar]

I suppose there are other adults here too.

Oh -- you mean because I remember a different year. I'm not sure how one would check for memory loss, but what did you want to ask, Yagami-kun?

[andeatit]

I can't claim to be a doctor, but I'd like to check your head for injuries. There are also some symptoms to check for like fatigue, loss of balance, headaches, or confusion.

[momingstar]

I'll allow it. I haven't felt any worse than usual, though, and only as confused as the rest of you are, being trapped on this island and all. I can't believe we've already been here this long with no one coming after us.

[andeatit]

Then, if you'll have a seat.

[He'll wait for her to do so before moving behind her and parting her hair, looking for any sigh of injuries.]

It looks like we're cut off from everyone else. With no way to contact someone, a single island would be hard to find.

[momingstar]

[She looks about as normal as anyone else does, just as she's reported. Sorry, no easy explanation for your time paradox.]

Not even on those computers... I wonder if they'll restock the cupboards or if we'll have to start foraging.

[andeatit]

[Light sighs and finally steps back, allowing her some personal space.]

They seemed to be stocked well enough, and there aren't many of us here. Even if we don't ration it closely, we should be fine for a while if we're not wasteful.

Hm. Maybe it would be a good idea to ration it nonetheless. You seem like someone who would manage a kitchen well, so I'd like to ask for your help should it come to that.
