Hikkikomori Paradise

[L's in the Master Bedroom bathroom closet the entire morning. Probably most of the day too. It's very unlikely any run ins will change this. He'll hear people in the bathroom but won't make himself known. If one enters the master bathroom very quietly he may be heard typing or clicking on the computer he's brought into the closet with him but he keeps quiet if he hears anyone coming.

Upon opening the door, anyone will be greeted with a bug eyed stare from a pasty man hunched over his own knees in front of a glowing computer screen. He has an entire open bag of sugar, tea bags, and some cups in the corner.]

Ginko--1st Morning

1. 6:57--Dining Room

[Considering she's currently in a chair that definitely isn't comfy enough to sleep in, Ginko wakes up fairly late. Ginko sniffs the air experimentally and as she pushes herself out of the chair, a piece of paper falls to the ground. She picks it up giving it a quick read over. She frowns and stuffs the paper in her pocket before leaving the room.]

2. 7:05--Everywhere

[Ginko's not going to stay any in one place for too long. Ignoring the Great Room for the moment, she'll sniff and briefly listen at the doors/entry ways of the following: Master Bedroom, Bed 5, Public Bath, Bed 2, Bed 4, Bath 2, Bed 3.]

3. 7:21--Kitchen

[Finished with sniffing around the bedroom area, she's heading straight to the kitchen. In particular the meat freezer. She opens it, blinks and frowns before slamming it shut. Then she opens it again, grabbing one of the pork steaks.]

[Prompts are timed as if she's not interrupted. They may change depending on how threads go.]

Light - Morning rounds

i. 6:00 A.M.; Master Bedroom - Bath

[At 6:00, he wakes from his bed in the master bedroom. Without wasting much time, he grabs the clothes he had washed and dried the previous night before heading into the master bath.

After a very quick shower, he focuses more time on dental and hair care after dressing. All in all, it's a rather speedy process.]

ii. 6:25; Laundry Room - Kitchen

[After crossing the house, Light heads into the laundry room to start the process of washing his night clothes. Once the washing has started - he adds his bathing laundry in as well - he heads into the kitchen to get something quick to eat.]

iii. 7:00; Great Room

[Since the Master Bedroom is somehow missing a computer, Light heads into the Great Room to check the network. Here, he can watch as people come and go, a preliminary check to see if anyone is in the house. While he does plan on doing a check once the house grows later, this will serve the purpose for now. He'll be here for some time.]

[ooc: all prompts are timed as if uninterrupted. The timing may change depending on how the threads go.]

Ed - 1st morning and location log

i. 6:39 A.M.; Bedroom 4

[Normally, Ed sleeps much later into the day when allowed, but his current sleep is unnatural, and when he wakes, it isn't with grace. Amber eyes shoot open to look around, confusion settling in as he tries to comprehend his new surroundings.] Huh? [This house... doesn't look familiar. It takes a moment for him to feel the texture of fabric in his hand, but once he does, one gloved hand pushes himself up so he can read over the instructions.

And immediately crumples it up.]

ii. 6:45 A.M.; Everywhere

[A small blonde may not be intimidating on his own, but he has a mission, and that mission is to find someone. Anyone. First, he'll search the house (Bath 2 , Bedroom 3, Bedroom 2, Bath 3, Bed 5, Great Room, Office, Kitchen, Nook, and Laundry) before heading outside. All he needs is a face, a body, someone to question, maybe someone to beat up.]

iii. 7:38 A.M. ; Kitchen-Bedroom 4

[Running around burns a lot of energy. Even if finding someone was easy, it's no good to skip breakfast. He can just eat something good and then return to his search for more people. If someone comes while he's taking the food back to 'his' bedroom, he won't hesitate to stop them.]

Mikami's morning rounds and location logs

[Mikami's morning schedule is as follows unless interrupted;

From a little after midnight until 7AM, he'll be sleeping on the office couch, in full suit and tie, aside from his shoes at the front entrance. He's a light sleeper but not so light somebody intentionally trying not to wake him couldn't enter and do something.

At 7AM he will wake up and look out into the main area, then return to check the computer if nothing's thrown him off schedule.

Unless he makes alternate plans due to talking to anyone via computer, at 7:30 he'll briefly check the laundry room. He'll then head to the Master Bathroom and proceed with basic morning hygiene and showering.

By 8:00 he'll head to the kitchen and either interact with whoever else is there or just make coffee alone.

At 7:30, he takes Ed to the laundry room and moves the laundry to the dryer before heading to the beach with him.

...This is a rather dry read, but that's Mikami for you. For being transported into a murderous land of magic and mystery where waking up alive is perhaps a small miracle, his morning habits are quite normal. Arguably unsettlingly so. He seems entirely comfortable and at home in the setting to anyone observing.]

Answer these trolley problems for fun and profit! Okay, so there's no profit and it's not fun.

[This network post to the intranet from an anonymous account pops up at 6AM on Sunday.]

God of Death? Ha! First one to die, even while fully armed, that's how it's gonna be, Ryuk?

And make no mistake about it, folks, he's dead and gone for real, not just hiding or shooed off like everyone's beloved buddy Astushi was. Did him the dignity of disposing of his body so no one messes with it. Anyway it's time everyone got to know each other a little better and everyone loves those internet personality tests or quizzes.

There's a lever to change which track a train takes; unless the lever's pulled, it takes track A. It'll kill twenty on A. B? Just five guys die.

Now consider this for a follow up: you can shove a fat guy. Lardass dies, killer train stops.

11 PM - Kitchen Thread

[All characters have relocated to the kitchen where they've set envelopes on the table; characters were encouraged (but not required on any game-based level) to put anything besides their welcome message/map into the envelope. Fake outs, of course, allowed. Separate thread by requests since it's been about two months. If your character put anything in their envelope, a reminder that you can post an anonymous comment with the contents of an envelope here, just be sure to PM [personal profile] sheep_dog to let them know you did in case there's any questions. Once your character's made a reply we'll assume you've had a chance to leave any message. Feel free to leave your anonymous messages in or outside the thread.

Characters can put their vote-off post on the bulletin board after the kitchen thread, but due to OOC issues Haneoka had to be the one voted off the first round. We've confirmed enough characters will vote her off anyway but feel free to list whoever else you want. You can do that anonymously too if you prefer.]

10 PM Meeting - Laundry Room

[As your character may know if they'd been watching the network thread, Mikami and Light have plans to meet at 10PM in the laundry room. Mikami will end up being about 10 minutes late.]

[OOC: Intended multi-player thread. Feel free to jump in early and run threads until someone interrupts, feel free to interrupt the thread whenever your character does arrive. Since this game tends to move slowly and we're beta, consider going out of turn if appropriate (interruptiong, etc.) as we try to feel this group process out.]

Fly away home

[A lazily, cumbersome flying shadow is visible out over the water to anyone at a window or out on the waterline, heading towards the shoreline to eventually alight there. The fanged creature doesn't look remotely capable of flight by any mundane understanding of physics, but, wings unfurled, it still manages to bob buoyantly through the air until it settles weightlessly on the ground.]

dinner with weirdos

[Everyone will get a note under their door and be called for supper. If and when they arrive at the kitchen, Eimi's set some fish stew and rice out for everyone.]

Hello! I know we haven't had a lot to do here and we all want to get home, but there's no reason we can't make the best of things. This isn't just a group meal, though. I'd like anyone to share what they've found so far. I haven't seen any major clues yet, and I've been looking, but this shouldn't turn into a competition, you know! I've had quite enough of that.
eraser_rain: (Default)

What does it say about this group if Mikami's the first one to go outside?

[Mikami's route after talking to Light online consists of heading from the office which he's decided will be his bedroom though he's left nothing there to claim it as such, back to the laundry room and changing into L's spare clothes, then heading outside to explore the outside area. He has a notebook and several pencils with him for sketching out a rough map, using his watch and counting his steps to try to estimate distances.

Once the sky starts turning pink and purple and darkness is on the horizon he'll head back, sure to be back before it's anywhere near fully dark. His first stop once inside will be to the office to put down his things, then to the laundry room to fetch his suit, then to bathroom #2 to shower, then back to the laundry room to drop off L's clothing, then back to the office.

Mikami's not trying to be particularly covert, or if he is, he's bloody terrible at it. Feel free to run into him outside, see him through a window, or catch him coming or going through the front door at any point during the above log of activities.]

((OOC: And here's a link to the map since I find myself wanting it a lot in posts. It's also been added to the community sidebar by player request.

Speaking of player requests, don't forget to give approval/denial on *both* the general time expansion and the first week double extension here.))

A game of clues

[So far, he had been very, very unsatisfied with his progress. Normally, things worked much more smoothly but being dropped into highly tense situations with people who seemed sure of their own paths hadn't made for a cohesive team. While he still felt they were safer in groups of three, it was time to do some real exploration.

The first thing was first: physically searching for clues. He'd stay in the house of course, as he still felt the surrounding land brought on too much threat of danger for the moment and he wanted more clues, or even a clue, toward the locked door in the laundry room. The bedrooms were his first step, as he wanted to look through the computers for potential clues and try to once more assess how many people had appeared. He would knock before going into each. If there was no answer, he would go inside and begin his searches, starting with the computers to see if any held any unique information. The rooms themselves would also be searched for anything that might hold numbers - he was fairly confident that while it was meant to be a difficult puzzle, it was meant to be solvable. Coming from Bedroom 2, he would move to Bedrooms 5, 4, and 3 before moving onto the Master Bedroom.

From there, he would move onto the middle and opposite sides of the house. The Dining Room, Great Room, Kitchen, Office, and finally the Laundry Rooms would be explored. There was no time for sloth.]

[ooc: basically, Light's looking through the entire house. If you want to avoid him, you can have hijinks ensue and have your character move between rooms while he's looking in other rooms; he also won't find any characters that are outside.]
[personal profile] airlynx2015-09-12 12:00 pm

Where is it?!

[A large form stalked through the house, cradling its head gingerly. A headache was nothing new, and Atsushi knew from experience that it was the kind you got from a hangover. The more he thought about it, though, he couldn't remember drinking anything the night before--but then again, weren't blackouts for him a common occurrence? He thought that was so. He thought--no, it hurt to think.

It was a miracle he'd found the map lying next to him upon waking, but using it was a whole nother ballgame. All he managed to get from it was that the kitchen was somewhere leftish, before throwing it back on the floor without bothering to see if there was anything on the back.

He threw open some of the kitchen cabinets and squinted into the darkness before groaning in disappointment. What kind of house didn't have some sake in it to help remedy his headache?

After throwing open the door to every cubpoard and cabinet he could lay his beady eyes on, he was forced to face the truth. Without bothering to close the now gaping doors, he lumbered back in the general direction from which he had come, leaving naught but a string of curse words in his wake.]
takethecake: (Stare.)

Do the creep.

[At the beginning of day two and closer to sunrise than midnight, somebody will be wandering around the halls with the Master Bedroom computer wrapped up in a bathrobe for easy transport. He won't open any closed bedroom doors but he will be testing the computer in the bedroom hallway, the laundry room, the office, and the dining room.

He also snoops through any clothing still left by that time in the laundry room and takes a spoon, a mug, a bag of sugar, and tea bags from the pantry before retreating to the Master Bedroom walk-closet.

Sneaking up might not be very effective but he won't show signs of hearing anybody coming or looking unless they seem to want to be noticed.

All of this will take just under 30 minutes.

Update: L screams in his thread with Ryuk. Others would probably hear it if they're near the walk-in closet.]

text;

[Once his exploring was done, he needed to get down to business.]

Somehow, it seems we've all ended up in a very strange place. I would like to figure out how as well as a way out, but as one of us is dangerous, it's best if we all meet first. If you see this, please reply. Once we have enough people to make it safe to meet, we'll agree on a room. Until then, pleasre be careful not to venture out too far alone.

[It obviously wasn't safe for just two people to meet, so it would take at least three.]

Great Room, Laundry Room

[Mikami would like to think that, at worst, he looks like a businessman on business in an unfamiliar part of town holding a map in hand and referencing it against everything he sees. Maybe at best he'd look like a building inspector, checking that everything were up to code. He does have a blank, serious-by-default expression in place as he steps out from the south bedroom hallway with that introductory piece of paper in hand. Shame the baggy, pukey-sea foam green Japanese prison outfit kind of dashes either of those images and just makes him look like a particularly leisurely burglar.

That his first destination is that south east corner to stare up at the camera the map says is in place--yup, that's a camera all right--really doesn't help with that.

Eventually, if he gets through peering at the camera without being deferred, his goal will be the laundry room to check on that obviously suspicious blue door on the map.

As soon as he sees the clothing in that laundry room, he'll be changing on the spot out of that prison uniform and into the suit hanging there--his suit, damn it. In his defense, Mikami never was a fan of sit-coms and hasn't watched anime since his age hit the double digits, so the potential for any of those supposed others mentioned in the letter walking in on such a thing hasn't crossed his mind.

He also thinks nothing of nabbing Light's second outfit to bring with him after changing. It's about his size.

....Hell, beggars can't be choosers, he'll take L's too.]

[OOC: Feel free to initiate interactions at any stage of the above narrative. Also feel free to thread-jack for three-four-five-whateverway threads.]

Starter Post - Fall 2015

[All characters wake up alone from their latest sleep, or maybe from something a little deeper than that, or maybe just from a particularly spaced out moment. They're in one of the five bedrooms of an unfamiliar house with a piece of lined notebook paper in hand on which the house map is drawn on one side and the following typed on the other:]

Just so you know, you're not alone and one of you is a murderer. You might not want to focus too much on the method to find the murderer.

It's not like there won't be any clues. But it won't be finger prints or a weapon. Nothing useful as that. That wouldn't be fun. You're not a forensic scientist. The clue will make about as much sense as how you got here does.

But the killer will be weird, compulsively, couldn't be normal if they tried. That's because murderers are freaks. Today is Friday; on Saturdays, everyone should get together and write a name on the bulletin board out there. If more than half the people here agree on someone, that someone will go home. Yay. Once they're sent everybody will go home! Everyone who's still alive, anyway.

By the way, you, I borrowed your notebook. Hope that you don't mind. I needed paper for all their notes; try not to scare them too much when they see you. Hope they are not speciesist.

[The bedroom the character wakes up in is player's-choice. They will be alone in there; even if other characters wake up in the same room, it will be at another time.

Also in each room is a computer turned on with an intranet forum loaded up. There's a register button that requires filling in a user name and making up a password. In the user name field your character's full name is entered, but they can change that and register under another name if they like.

Once registered, characters will have an e-mail address and can exchange e-mails on the intranet.

The internet doesn't work if the character tries to go to an outside site. Intranet only. Same for any cell phone they may have on them; no service.

Despite the computer being set up and the website loaded on the computer in the Master Bedroom, it will not post or register from there as there is no connectivity in that room. The character will have to find another computer to register and browse.

Each computer has a microphone and a web cam for audio or video input as well as serving as a digital camera that can be unhooked from the computer and charged by USB. The forums will take audio and video posts or replies as well as text posts. Images can be uploaded to the intranet freely.

Do not respond to this post. Make your own posts of characters posting, wandering about doing things, etc. in this community. If they leave something behind, take something or change something, note it in the setting post. Thanks!]

General Setting Post - Fall 2015

The Island:

The house is set within 100 meters of the north beach on a vaguely circular island about 30km in diameter. The sand is clean and the water is clear. There are waves.

There is a fishing dock visible from the house on the beach, and nets and fishing lines and hooks available. Fish and such caught will be those typical of Indo-Pacific waters.

Aside from the beach areas and clearing the house is on, the island is mostly tropical wooded area. Wild-life includes small rodent mammals. No predatory animals that would be a danger to the cast. Conveniently there are also no poisonous spiders or bugs, but if you want to find any type of wild plant that would grow natively in a fairly tropical, warm, wet area, you're free to.

The House:
House Map )

If specifics aren't listed, feel free to assume the common trappings of a household or room, including food items. Pen, paper, ink pads, etc. in the office; nightstands, mirrors in bedroom, full range of knives in the kitchen, scales in the bathroom, toothpaste/brushes, over-the-counter aspirin in bathroom medicine cabinets, etc.

No personal artifacts (pictures, diaries, clothing not listed) that would hint at another owner or inhabitant. No TVs. No books.

If any major changes are made to any of the rooms or areas, post below in the given section. This can include leaving notes, messes, whatever. Feel free to comment anonymously if you don't want it known it was your character, just notify the RNG mod [personal profile] sheep_dog . You should also probably make a post about it if it's something your character could be seen or caught doing, or which may lead to interaction. When in doubt try to prioritize interaction, such as making a post to have your character stake out an area, then have it done during some alone period before/after those interactions. Mods won't actually demand to know exactly when it's done unless necessary. For example, if one character was put on guard duty of a room and you want to do it secretly during a period it's under surveillance.

The Intranet/Network

Once registered, characters will have an e-mail address and can exchange e-mails on the intranet.

The internet doesn't work if the character tries to go to an outside site. Intranet only. Same for any cell phone they may have on them; no service, though they can sign on to the intranet with their cell phone if they were last sleeping/spaced out/whatever with it immediately on their person before arriving. Hope they have a charger; there are outlets all over, but no cell phone chargers.

Intranet only accessible from rooms with Wifi.

Each computer has a microphone and a web cam for audio or video input as well as serving as a digital camera that can be unhooked from the computer and charged by USB. The forums will take audio and video posts or replies as well as text posts. Images can be uploaded to the intranet freely.

All posts log the device IP address. Only the "OP" or top level poster can view the IPs of replies to posts on the forum. If a top (OP) post is made by the community (mod account) for everyone to respond to, IPs cannot be viewed.

E-mail recipients can see the IP of mail sent to them.

Video/Audio chats on forums work like text posts on the public forum; they can be seen by all, and the IPs can be seen by the OP only.

Private ones work like E-mail; since both are recipients, both will see the other's IP.
