10 PM Meeting - Laundry Room

[As your character may know if they'd been watching the network thread, Mikami and Light have plans to meet at 10PM in the laundry room. Mikami will end up being about 10 minutes late.]



[OOC: Intended multi-player thread. Feel free to jump in early and run threads until someone interrupts, feel free to interrupt the thread whenever your character does arrive. Since this game tends to move slowly and we're beta, consider going out of turn if appropriate (interruptiong, etc.) as we try to feel this group process out.]

I'd wondered if you had left your hiding place in order to collect everyone's names, but considering your reaction to him, it doesn't seem so.

[His attention then goes to Atsushi.] I'm fine. [But he seems okay around Ryuk, too. Was Light the only one?] Our... sixth guest surprised me.

What'd ya call me? Shin'game? Ya guys don' look like yer playin' a game here. Are ya lookin' to start somethin'?! [Atsushi cracks his knuckles and takes a stride toward L.]

Ah, how scary, how scary. [Thumb pushed partially into his mouth sideways, L stares up at him, wide eyed, more with interest than fear.]

[As surprised as Mikami is at the newcomer, and as much as he bets "the detective" as he's deemed himself is probably betting on the group's civility to save him from the violence it sure looks like he's baiting, Mikami's long-standing drive to save the weak, nerdy weirdos from bullies seems to be on the fritz.]

[Then Light will play that role.]

Shinigami. A Death God. We've established you're not, and we shouldn't waste time fighting among ourselves.

Back to important business, has anyone seen anything that might be a hand pump?

[The violent turn only seems to have piqued Ryuk's interest, as he continues hanging back with a big, dopey grin, and a low chuckle that he's accustomed to not having overheard.]

Are we sure? Their mouths look alike.

I don't think a generous lip size is enough to make someone a Shinigami. His coloring is a more natural, even there.

Thank goodness we have a Shinigami expert on hand.

He's not a shinigami. Probably. I don't know all of them personally.

Why is it only probably? Would it really be so easy to be confused as one of you?

He's very easy to see. I still feel confident he's an ordinary human.

Don' talk 'bout me as if I'm not there! Name-callin' is for weak fellas who don' know how to fight like men, ya skinny wimp.

[After finishing glowering--an expression similar yet different to his usual resting bitch face--at L, Atsushi crosses his arms, making sure to flex, and glances back at Light.]

I ain't ordinary. See, I'm like Superman.

In a fight, I'd much rather have you on my side. [They were getting so off topic.] In fact, if the power is cut, your strength will be very useful. That's what we should be discussing.

The power won't be cut.

How can you be so sure? If someone can kidnap a Death God and another man from prison, it's not safe to assume he there's something he can't do.

They won't. I'll need one thing to prove it. Since everybody is here now, it can be done safely.

Somebody has a different letter. Alternately, an extra letter. If we leave one at a time and head to the office, there will be envelopes there. Everybody should leave a sealed envelope on the kitchen counter. The last person will shuffle them when bringing them in. One should put any extra communication they've received in there.

[Now Light is in on calling him a criminal too, even if less directly. With a sigh and a withering look at Light, a tone that doesn't sound like he hopes to be believed, he adds in, for good measure:] My "prison" wasn't an ordinary prison at all. There was no informing me of my rights upon arrest, no appointment of an attorney, nor even a trial. Frankly, this kind of sick game seems more in line with the people behind the prison I was taken from than something I could have been saved from.

[And back to L...]
I don't oppose that plan, but if anybody has any extra information they weren't willing to bring forward before, there's no reason they would do so anonymously now either.

[Light had pointed out this could have been something to try to get him to admit to being Kira earlier, hadn't he?]

Nonetheless, I assume there were bars and guards. You were taken from a place with more security than others.

[Also back to L...] I'll also go along with it, but I have my doubts that it will work. If it's on the same letter, we have a better chance but I have seen at least one other letter, and it matches mine. If there's an extra letter, it would be too dangerous to keep it.

It's fine with me. I just left mine where I found it. Unless anyone took it, it should still be there.

Ya talk as though prison is somethin' bad, but I met my best buddy when back in juvie when I was fourteen.

[Atsushi sticks his hands in his pockets and candidly touches his letter in his right pocket, which is crumbled beyond recognition. After seeing Eimi's letter, he had decided that he better hang onto his own. Atsushi hated when people took his stuff. And hated the people that took his stuff.]

It sounds like ya know what yer doin', even though ya ain' much of a fighter. [He says to L.] Yer good for somethin' after all.

[Taking a step back from Atsushi as he starts talking about his time in jail, Mikami still gives him a dubious stare.]

Politely asking that the killer, if one exists, turn over anything relevant to their identity, doesn't sound like the plan of a detective who knows what they're doing. If there is a killer, they only have to avoid standing out as such while we're sitting ducks. What in that room would possibly be worth that risk?

Yer time in jail obviously didn' teach ya anythin' useful, if yer talkin' like that. When the police're onto ya, it's better to come clean instead o' gettin' in deeper. Now, I don' have a better plan, so I ain't standin' here complainin'. The fact that you are says that maybe you do?

[Light's eyes go from L to Ryuk.]

Unless this isn't about getting 'a' note but rather a ploy to get all of the notes. You were anxious to get mine before without being willing to hand yours over. I may have a plan for those willing to cooperate, but I need information first.

[His attention turned more fully to Ryuk.] You two have met before the meeting, haven't you? I assume it was your note that was taken, according to the contents of our welcome letter. There's something special about it, isn't there?
