11 PM - Kitchen Thread

[All characters have relocated to the kitchen where they've set envelopes on the table; characters were encouraged (but not required on any game-based level) to put anything besides their welcome message/map into the envelope. Fake outs, of course, allowed. Separate thread by requests since it's been about two months. If your character put anything in their envelope, a reminder that you can post an anonymous comment with the contents of an envelope here, just be sure to PM sheep_dog to let them know you did in case there's any questions. Once your character's made a reply we'll assume you've had a chance to leave any message. Feel free to leave your anonymous messages in or outside the thread.

Characters can put their vote-off post on the bulletin board after the kitchen thread, but due to OOC issues Haneoka had to be the one voted off the first round. We've confirmed enough characters will vote her off anyway but feel free to list whoever else you want. You can do that anonymously too if you prefer.]

I wonder if that could be? If you're already dead - if that's what this means - then maybe you are. That would make things easier, wouldn't it?

What about the others? Do things look normal on the rest of them? [Mikami vaguely swishes a hand above his head where he assumes whatever should be there would be.]

[He's blank-faced and quiet for a little too long to be completely certain the irony is accidental, but then again, that's how his face is.]

To be clear, even if a person is on death row, set to die, lying on the ground bleeding out, their lifespan would be visible until their actual, biological death? As long as there are so much as a few seconds that you could theoretically take from them.

That's right. Any living human should have a lifespan that I can see, but neither of you do. Neither of you died at some point, did you?

Speaking of taking time from the living as a Shinigami, is it necessary to follow a person until you come across their name got you to be able to kill them?

No. Name and lifespan are the two things visible immediately to shinigami. As long as we can observe them...

Yes, thank you. [He plucks the brush away with two fingers leaving Light to hold onto the tie. While talking he picks up the kettle and gets soot from the bottom onto the brush.]

Then there are no protests if my prints are on more than one envelope as I must hold them to dust them. Or would you all prefer the Shinigami to hold them up while I dust?

Holding it with a paper towel or through one's shirt would be easy enough.

[He holds out the soot-stained paper towel he used to ink his own fingers to Light, nodding to the test slip for their bases while moving to wash his own hands.]

Hm. [It was a sound of agreement as he took the paper towel and began to ready his own prints, stepping closer to the test slip.] But having Ryuk hold it would be even easier.

[Pressing his fingers to the slip, he would pass the soot to Atsushi.]

If Ryuk doesn't object, that's my preferred method.

[Atsushi proceeds in following the others' examples with a noncommittal shrug. His eyes narrow. Would it be possible to roll a blunt with a paper towel?]

Mm? I guess I can be a holder for a while. [While it can't be said he takes this role enthusiastically, he does fall into step without complaint, holding up the envelope for dusting.]

[L is neither more nor less enthusiastic as he brushes the soot over it, focusing on the top and bottom edges as well as the center seal. He makes a face as the seal is torn and getting a solid fingerprint from the two halves is unlikely, but maybe they'll be lucky enough with other prints.]


((OOC: I'm not sure which envelope he's dusting. Are we going in order or just doing/starting with the fourth one?))

((I think just going through in the order they were opened seems a reasonable way to go about it unless anyone wants to instigate a particular order. I'll assume that's the sequence he defaults to.))

((OOC: Works for me. Everyone can feel free to put a note under each letter posting above with what fingerprints are on them as we go through dusting them. We're currently doing envelope 1 in the list above. If you're L, Light or Mikami and want to put "young small/medium build adult male" prints anonymously, if you don't think the prints could be differentiated well, go for it. Though Light and Mikami have made sample prints, so you might have to make a good case to sheep_dog as to why they can't be determined; examples could include trying to fake L's holding style, etc.

If there are NOT fingerprints on an envelope and your character has touched one or more envelopes (I'm pretty sure they've all touched at least one one), drop sheep_dog a line saying why you're not announcing fingerprints here.

This doesn't apply to Ryuk who can probably touch things without fingerprints, due to a lack of metabolism. Unless he wants to leave prints, I guess. Whatever floats your boat there.))

The owner of that envelope is easy enough to identify. Of course, we also know the owner of the last and unopened one.

Ryuk? Will you be as cooperative in restraining one of us as you are in the rest of this envelope shuffling affair?
