Mikami's morning rounds and location logs

[Mikami's morning schedule is as follows unless interrupted;

From a little after midnight until 7AM, he'll be sleeping on the office couch, in full suit and tie, aside from his shoes at the front entrance. He's a light sleeper but not so light somebody intentionally trying not to wake him couldn't enter and do something.

At 7AM he will wake up and look out into the main area, then return to check the computer if nothing's thrown him off schedule.

Unless he makes alternate plans due to talking to anyone via computer, at 7:30 he'll briefly check the laundry room. He'll then head to the Master Bathroom and proceed with basic morning hygiene and showering.

By 8:00 he'll head to the kitchen and either interact with whoever else is there or just make coffee alone.

At 7:30, he takes Ed to the laundry room and moves the laundry to the dryer before heading to the beach with him.

...This is a rather dry read, but that's Mikami for you. For being transported into a murderous land of magic and mystery where waking up alive is perhaps a small miracle, his morning habits are quite normal. Arguably unsettlingly so. He seems entirely comfortable and at home in the setting to anyone observing.]

[Ed blinks, his words falling flat. Being kidnapped is a big deal, but...]

What kind of weird typewriter are you on?

Typewriter? [ He pauses, then glances to the computer with a frown. More of one than usual, that is. An inconvenienced one, even if there's a flicker of realization. ]

Where do you last remember being before here? The time and date.

February... uh, 17th, I think. [Things had been hectic.] Why? What day is it now? [How long had he slept?]

The year?

Year? 1915. How hard'd you hit your head?

[eraser_rain]

[He gestures to the chair, then starts navigating without addressing Ed's obvious point of confusion.] This is the intranet. Anybody on a computer with an account can post to the forum... A digital version of the bulletin board in the main area, essentially.

[What is this guy saying?!]

Then just use the bulletin board. Making a smaller bulletin board just so you can use a typewriter's just a waste of time. Wait. [Those eyes go to Mikami.] What's the ideal with putting my name on the board?

[His shoulders sink briefly as his eyes go to the ceiling, considering something. After a moment, he pulls up an image file with a scanned copy of his letter.] "Digital" doesn't mean anything to you. It's got its conveniences.

This is the letter I got. Let me have yours now. [He hasn't gotten any more friendly or less demanding.]

[What is he doing? What is that weird thing moving? What the hell's happening?!

Breaking out of his confusion, he pulls away at the least minute.] Forget it. If you have your own, you don't need mine. If you want it so bad, just digital it again.

[He watches Ed pull away with a deepening scowl, turning to follow him, to step forward and keep the distance, the pressure between them.]

This "game" is a mystery to the adults who've been here for a week and are familiar with the set. You're a child and almost a full century behind.

[Another step forward, trying to grab his shoulder.] It's in your best interest to at least pretend to cooperate if you want to stand a chance at understanding anything.

[A gloved hand knocks at the one reaching for him.]

You're acting like an old man by callin' me a kid. If you wanna help me understand, you'd be answering more questions than you're asking. Who did it?

I need to know what you don't know to frame my answers. And I just said that we're still working on solving this. There may be a hint in that paper that I can give you context for.

It's just a letter that tells me I'm not alone, and somebody here's gonna try to kill somebody. All it talks about is that you'd know more.

[His mouth turns down in a frown.]

Stop hiding it and tell me already. What the hell's going on?

[eraser_rain]

"I" would know more?

[tochallengethesun]

The guy's already here. [Which Mikami obviously is if he knows how to use that weird thing.] If I'm supposed to be a hostage, joke's on them. The Colonel'll just complain about how much I cost already.

This would go faster if I could read your letter. I've pulled mine up for you to read.

[tochallengethesun]

That's not telling me what I need to know. You're not trying to help at all. Ahh... I should've known. What if I put it into that thing?

[eraser_rain]

Are you going to let me show you how?

[tochallengethesun]

[Amber eyes to the computer.]

I don't need the help, it looks easy.

[eraser_rain]

[Uh huh. Right. Well then, he'll step back and watch with a gesture to help himself to it.]

[Stuffing his note into his pocket, he moves to sit down in the chair that Mikami was occupying. First, he needs to figure out what all the buttons are.

... That's a lot harder to do without reference.

Ah, who cares, he can press the button and the letter would appear, right? Only it doesn't. Ed presses J once, but nothing happens. Of course, the solution is to keep pressing it quickly, multiple times in a row, and yet nothing continues to happen.]

Stupid thing's broken. [Standing up, he looks around it.] There's no paper.

[Mikami's still scowling, but it's the most mild expression he's worn for the entirety of their acquaintanceship. He might be enjoying this.]

[While looking around the computer in an attempt to explain why nothing is working, Ed spots the printer and the paper. Standing up, that seems to be his goal. Ah, maybe it was working, and his distance from the paper had made it seem different.]

Why the hell does it come out so far away? [Steel-toed boots take him across the short distance until he's pulling at the paper. Nope, still blank. But the page had come up too easily, it's not really loaded.]

Load it.

I don't really have the time to let you ask me to do this for you step by step when you don't even know the steps.

I'm not asking you to all the steps, just this one. How'd you expect me to put it in if the paper's not working?
