10 PM Meeting - Laundry Room

[As your character may know if they'd been watching the network thread, Mikami and Light have plans to meet at 10PM in the laundry room. Mikami will end up being about 10 minutes late.]



[OOC: Intended multi-player thread. Feel free to jump in early and run threads until someone interrupts, feel free to interrupt the thread whenever your character does arrive. Since this game tends to move slowly and we're beta, consider going out of turn if appropriate (interruptiong, etc.) as we try to feel this group process out.]

[L's hand starts to go to his own pocket. Given his seating position it's not remotely as subtle as Mikami reaching into his. His shoulder shifts about as he makes a show of digging for something.]

[Any response he might have had to that is cut short by trying to back further into the wall. His eyes go to the door, considering an escape.]

If something happens to me...

[He doesn't really have a good follow up threat for that. So instead he just pulls the letter opener out of his pocket, gripping it with both hands.]

[And from his own pocket, out comes a piece of candy from the pantry.]

You're waving around something scary there!

[As surprised as Mikami looks at that candy one might think it really was something dangerous. But with an annoyed sigh he lowers the letter opener, arms stiff at his sides.]

I think I know what you're trying to do by being such a "freak." Then, you had the same impression that I did from the letter, regarding who's sent on Saturdays.

It's a waste if it's only discussed between two people. I don't like repeating myself... [So he says while popping the candy into his mouth and sulking as the time continues to pass with no sign of Light or anyone else.]

Light hit me up for us to crash, hope this is okay

And what are you two doing?

[House mother walks in with a sigh, here to make sure you behave.]

I'm glad to hear that we're coming up with a plan, though I'm not certain what you've got in mind.

Before we get to a plan, I'd like to discuss what we all know. And, sorry I'm late. I was hoping we'd find all five of us here rather than just four.

[ooc: posting order can be Eimi, Light, and whichever the two of you would like to pop in first and second?]

Haneoka-san! Yagami-san! [Mikami may have just drew a weapon on him, but L is as cheerful as if they were meeting for tea time. Or maybe it's just hard to sound unhappy with candy in one's mouth.] Hello!

Hm, what we all know... For one thing, there are six of us, not five. I'd told you before hadn't I, Yagami-san?

[He'll just try to quietly tuck that weapon perfectly ordinary, common place letter opener back into his pocket now, making a face but saying nothing, only nodding to the other two.]

[That damn bug-eyed hannya mask face briefly preceeds the rest of the slouch-postured body. To judge by the creature's sudden straightening out, coming across a conspiratorial roomful of people was not at all in the plans.]

Ah. Yo. [The clawlike hand is briefly lifted in a casual gesture of greeting.]

Good evening to you as well. Oh... you mean Atsushi-kun is the one who's not here, don't you?

[andeatit]

[When it had first appeared, he reacted, but it had been silent. His eyes widened, rounded out, his mouth opening without sound. Did no one else see it?!]

aaaaaaAAAAAAHHHHHHH! [And then his silence breaks and he screams, his arm going out to try to urge the rest of the group back, away from the monster. It was probably dangerous!]

((I am absolutely loving this as a recurring motif.))

..... Oi, oi. [The aforementioned monster pipes up in a tone of perhaps rather exaggerated hurt.] Nice to meet you, too.

[And while all of that takes place, L turns to Eimi, talking casually over Light's display as if he isn't even there. L asked Light a question about the sixth but it seems like he isn't in a condition to answer it.]

Then, you've met the one not here? Atsushi-kun.

[ooc: Ryuk if perfect for Halloween.]

[Light returns the favor, unintentionally, of talking to Ryuk over everyone else.

He seems calm down, if one could judge by his tone of voice.]

Y-you...

I think we should focus on our captor a bit more. [He addresses L, cutting off any answer, quickly as he points at Ryuk.]

[Holding in a sigh, looking uninterested in Light's display, L is forced to look to the rudely interrupting Light again.]

Were you always this poor under pressure?

[Mikami looks towards Ryuk when he enters, but Light's outburst has more of his attention. He reacted the same way so he can't actually judge, but he looks as if he's judging. That is because he is Mikami.]

I'm fine under pressure, but I think having what seems to be supernatural creature here takes procedance over the rest of the day.

I was worried too, but he says he's a fellow captive, and if the rest of this is possible, that is too. As for Atsushi-kun, briefly, yes; he's a nice boy, but... a little fond of the drink, and doesn't have the best of sense.

[inthecolosseum]

Yeah, I haven't met this Atsushi fella, myself.

[He looks back to Light after this comment.]

The name's Ryuk, by the way. Woke up here the same way I take it all of you did.

It goes against my better judgment to accept the existence of something so ridiculous, but there we have it.

Then, in summary, on this island we have a God of Death [He points to Ryuk.], a murder suspect [to Light], a criminal whose charge hasn't been shared yet [to Mikami], an idiot drunk, the detective [to himself] and a family woman. [His pointing ends with an open hand towards Eimi.]

A God of Death? [He's still looking at Ryuk, though he nods. Rather or not he accepts it, now he'll move onto gathering information.] I can't so easily dismiss that as coincidence, but something was mentioned in the note. If you are innocent, I would prefer having you on our side... Ryuk.

As for the rest of the summary, it's suspiciously biased. I'd like to give my own. I'll start with myself. I was a murder suspect based on circumstantial evidence. I have been cleared of charges, as I've told you. Since then, I've been working along beside you trying to catch the same killer. Since this isn't new information to you, it would be best to not give out the version you'd like to be true and taint other investigations.

[His finger goes to L.] As for you, you're known as one of the world's best detective. That does come with some questionable tactics, such as sending a man in to die as bait and locking up two people with trial and keeping them there for 50 days. You've also put me in very questionable situations before to try to provoke me into killing. [As such, it is possible L has set this up to do the same thing again.]

Atsushi-kun is knowledgeable in things the rest of us would probably have less skill in. [Out of L, Light, and Mikami, which one of them looked ready to do heavy construction?] That isn't proof of either guilt or innocence, but it's worth noting.

Haneoka-san does seem to be a family woman, and I would like to send her back in the vote if it does indeed work. Most of us probably won't object to having more time to figure out the mystery.

[He would nod toward Mikami.] I'm sure he's capable of giving his own side of the story, which is how the justice system does work.

[Eimi pauses for a bit and nods.] It sounds like you've all got some things to work through where you come from, so I'll leave that at that. Even if one of you were a criminal, that wouldn't necessarily mean you were this criminal. In fact, you might be better equipped to stop them if that were the case.

[Being summarized as a criminal sends him from his usual scowl to something more distinctly acrimonious. Light's counter summary doesn't really help matters much, nor does Eimi's attempt to smooth things over.]

...Speaking of things mentioned in the note. As Yagami-san has mentioned, it says that the one voted for will be sent back.

Despite the obvious goal set out for us in the letter, if there is a criminal among us, keeping in mind that even the allegation itself is only for a yet uncommitted crime, I would not want a murderer simply sent home free.

I move that our interests should be in sending home those whose innocence we're most certain of. For now, we are all innocent of murder, and only one of us would be remotely capable of this kind of kidnapping. [He bluntly points to Ryuk.] I propose leaving the him for last, at which point he can presumably vote himself off, or failing that, be in the strongest position to confront the very likely supernatural entity behind this.
